August 31 GOAL !Here we are..
last day in August
AND
I've met my goal for my blog
as of this morning;
my blog has had 10,020 hits
YAY
over 10,000 hits in a year! YAY
thanks to all you friends and bloggers for your continued 'support'
teehee
and thanks for all your visits
can't believe I've been 'blogging' for a year now
Tomarrow, we leave for the BIG camping trip
first for the 'hoedown' in Kamloops with 'the gang'
then on to Kelowna, for a week visit with Grandma, MY Grandma.
Who, sold her house..so no sleep-overs there..now we gotta camp
and go visit during the day.
I'm sure you'll be looking forward to all the pics and stories we're bound to come home with..
what will REALLY suck is missing the second to LAST week of Rockstar SUpernova
and all the amazing performances we wont get to see until next friday.....snif..
Of ALL the crap TV out there, this show was actually GOOD tv entertainment
nevermind the incredible music!
'See' ya'll next week
August 29 SPOILED but not rottenYesterday was a real treat
Gary's mom took our lil' guy for the evening (thanks again Mae & Bill)
so he and I could spoil our daugter at the PNE (pacific national exhibition)
which is a big 'fair'
I got there before Gary got off work, so she and I had some time to run around a bit and eat lots of goodies.
I know the neighborhood by the PNE well enough, that I refused to pay $15 to park my car for a couple hours, so I found a spot about 5 blocks away, and we walked to the gate. I'd rather spend $15 and spoil my daughter than spend it on a stupid car.
We went thru $40 like water..well, a small bottle of water..even from the vending machine, was $3 -insane
talk about 'Price gouging' ( a 'dinner' of a single burger and fries w/ 2 drinks was $17 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! crazy....EAT BEFORE YOU GO!!!!
Eryn was SOOOOOO excited
she wanted to spend all her time with the animals on the 'farm'
she LOVED the animals the best, also LOVED the superdogs, and was supersonic screaming when they performed.
got pics of that too
She got her face painted, ate cotton candy, ice cream, sodas, french fries..and anything else she wanted..she got a cowgirl hat, a silly purple unicorn thingy, and a 'tattoo' from kids CBC
It was an awesome evening
Cant get over how 'liberating' it feels to ONLY have one child to tend to.
After 15 months of raising 2 babies..having to deal with only one was a cake walk,, soooo easy
SUCH a relief
can't begin to describe it..
and for all those parents of 'singletons' out there, you have NO idea what I mean, until you've done it too
hey Jenn? Brian? right?
Edie& David, soon, will be joining the ranks of: parent of 2
ugh
I swear by this analogy:
the difference between having ONE -VS- MORE than one baby to raise, is VERY similar to the transition one makes from being free and 'single' to carrying the responsability of raising a single child...THAT transition is AS big as going from ONE to TWO kids....
so for us to go from TWO kids to ONE, for the evening, almost felt as 'free' as being w/o kids again
my point?
We had a great time!
And
when we go again next year...
we'll do it the same way
divide
and
conquer
check out my photo album ABOVE
for all the great pics
August 28 Katrina re visited..........Here is the blog I posted 1 yr ago, when the US govt FAILED it's people in wake of the killer hurricane...that was tracked ond forecastGuess Where Bush is Going In A Handbasket?OK, I can't help but surely be one of the millions ranting about the situation down on the Gulf Coast. Bad enough that nobody had the foresight, 3 days before the storm hit land, to MAYBE move in a few thousand troops, at least to the nearby area? OR, move them all the day of, when we all knew for sure WHERE the storm would land..that's BAD enough (stupid idiots) but then, take FOREVER to get in there and help people ? Bad enough that it's coming to light that scientists, local leaders and reporters have been saying for years that this was bound to happen and begging for money to upgrade infastructure..but NO Bush ixnayed it...that's all bad enough....what a disaster...but, it gets worse.
I saw Bush, finally, down on the ground in the disaster area, first at a military base, then later in a disaster zone.
At the military base, in the background you could see rows of troops standing at attention and a hangar full of helicopters, all this in the background as the president had a photo-op / debriefing. As a spectator, I was wondering to myself, if the situation out there is so dire...why are all those troops and equipment just sitting idle in the background??? For looks? atmosphere? ...how lame..stupid..
THEN..it gets better...Bush is out walking the streets, meeting victims etc.. Looks and sounds like a ton of media around him, as he gloatingly strolls around embracing his citizens, while freshly shaven and showered himself. Here, again, I'm thinking, ....so he knows he's going to meet victims..why not bring along an extra bottle or 2 of water, or food? Let someone borrow his phone to call a loved one? or something? sorry...no room for that, we must bring along our camera crews, reporters and the like, so Bush looks good. People are pleading with him..'we have nothing, no food, no clothes" "It's OK honey", he says, as he placatingly put his arm around the woman, "we'll get you something' yeah right..why didn't you think of that before and hand out a few supplies while viewing the damage?? WOuldn't THAT make a better photo-opp...Bush actually HELPING victims instead of news-conferencing about them....what a LAME-ASS/DUCK president, same could be said for all the media crews that are goin' in there..but then we don't see everything, just what the media want us to see.....but, . Bloody hell, I hope the AMericans get a clue now...one can only hope.....
How'd they get to be the most powerful nation in the world with leadership and policies like this?? I just don't understand........
Glad to be living in Canada, but I'd be fooling myself, if I thoughtthings would be better here, if some such disaster struck here...(we'd probably have same slow federal response, local resources can't handle scope of disaster, looting, panic, lawlessness, violence, just maybe not the guns......).
I learned a couple things;
We should have emergency supplies handy ( a week of water & food, maybe first aid kit) and a plan. We do live in a quake zone after all.
The other thing I learned is, whatever 'they' say, don't head to a convention centre or stadium for shelter. Just count on yourself and head for the hills. Don't expect anyone to come rescue you, or help from the federal, provincial,or local authorities....just head for the hills...good thing we have lots of them here
My personal opinion?????
I think George needs a better screenwriter.
Or maybe a better director.....can't decide.
Had to add a photo of Bush 'consoling' a victim..what a joke..how stupid does he think his country's citizens are? 50 and counting..........
WOW
last week in august
and now I'm just 50 hits shy of 10.000
my goal for august,
a 'gift' to my faithful blog,
is to reach
10,000 hits,
by & for my blog's first anniversary
so stop on by again, send your friends over, neighbors, cousins, newspaper delivery boyz, co-workers...you get the idea
thanks for your faithful readership
cheers, bloggers
August 24 Sensational EveningI made my second trip back to
Sensational Suppers
This time I met a few girlfriends there.
I also arrived a bit early to enjoy a leisurely 'cuppa' while relaxin' in their fabulous 'spa' chairs...
Had I realized exactly how much food I'd ordered...I'd have started as soon as I got there.
I began at 7pm and got home just after 10pm.
My freezer is now overflowing..literally..with food.
We've had to transfer most of the standard freezer stuff..to our deep freeze.
I think I musta opened and closed the freezer door like 20 times already..
just to look at all the neatly stacked piles and piles of gourmet dinners
I felt like a mother squirrell admiring her 'stash'
I've already picked out what we're having for next dinner.
This is the BEST thing I've 'discovered' all year!!!!!!!
I'm actaully EXCITED about dinners now.......ME......
I got some great picks of our evening there
Maybe you notice that in some of the pictures, there's lots of bright sunlight,
then when we were loading up the 'goods' it was already dark?
time flies....
and YUP we were all having fun
wanna see how much??
just check out my lil' photo album above.. I'm sure you couldnt miss it.
time for bed...
all that 'slaving'' for HOURS in the kitchen
has exhausted me
yaaaaaaawwwn
August 23 Happier Than a Pig in......raise the banners !
sound the horns !
release the doves !
my camera has returned!
I was just 'msn'-ing with Dee, this afternoon, while the kids were napping,
chatting about how I should call and check the status of my camera
so
finally i got around to it
and
when the clerk got back on the phone
she says:
"It will be in the store on the 23rd
oh wait
that's today
it arrived today"
YIPPY
So
I'd called them, before they even had a chance to call me.
HA
I can only imagine how addicted I'll be to my camera now now that we're reunited
They (the thugs in ontario) replaced the CPU and upgraded it
so I had to download the new drivers, but it's up and running
and
I'll have my camera for our historic week-long camping trip
AND
Gary brought home my new NVidea GEforce 6600 video card...that was in for warranty replacement
OH HAPPY DAY
and finally:
pleased to share my new photos,
the ones of Eryn at the playground were taken by Adrienne.
The one of the kids in teh stroller was THE FIRST new pic I took, when we were reunited!
the others of the kids playing when we got home.
only 200 to goWOW
we just MAY hit the mark now my blog only needs 200 hits by the end of the month to reach 10,000 hits in a year!
YAY
thanks blogopolis, and all you bloggers, for your support i hope to add some pics soon, of the kids
they'll all be 'stolen' pics from other friends' camera's....
but at least theres a record of my kids growiong up
since I'm camrealess
snif
cheerios...
August 21 42 days and counting.....and 300 hits in 10 days?the thugs at future shop, have in writing that they will replace your 'item' if they can't get it fixed and back to you in 60 days...
Now,
I read the fine print to make sure my contract didn't say 60 business days...
And, after doing the math...
I have 18 days left to wait
the sad part is
We're going on our first big camping trip in 11 days
for a week
so
when we return, I should qualify for a new camera....
but for the trip, I'll be with out
snif
I wont know what to do with myself.....
in other news;
I was looking over my blog 'statistics' this week, and noticed
that I've had this blog for a year now
it's our anniversary
and
as a gift
to my blog
I'm hoping we'll hit 10,000 hits by the end of the month
we only need 300 more
so send your friends over
drop in a couple extra times
see if we can make it to
10,000 hits
within a year
That's all the time I've got today
blogging just isn't the same when I'm camera-less
yeah, got stuff to say,
I like 'show & tell'
not just the telling,
but also the showing
gettin tired of my Beautiful B.C. pics yet????
August 16 revenge of the DDso
I went bra shopping
and I met 'the wonderbra', at 'The Bay'
'The Wonderbra" is the middle-aged, frumpy, smoker-hack ridden, sallow eyed, lady who helped me.
The Bay is now notorious for only having like two cashiers per floor now, where there used to be cashiers and help in every dept.
I figured I'd have to fend for myself....
However, every bra rack I scoured, were only hung with A's, B's and C's
I fondley was rembering my long-lost 36C days....sigh
I ventured to the cashiers tills'....
I must have had a paniky look on my face, because "Wonderbra' asked, very sympathetically, if I needed help.
YES
I said desperately.
She whipped out her measuring tape from nowhere, and there, infront of the cashier's counter, began flourishing the 'tape' around my chest...
she hmmm'd and ummm'd a couple times...then marched off towards the bra shelves with a 'FOLLOW ME"
I 'fell in' behind her , thankful that someone was there to guide me.
After stuffing several boxes under her arms, she lead me to the change rooms.
As she closed the door behind me, she added:
Don't worry sweetie, I won't leave you, I'll be back to check on you.
I opened the first box....and before I tried it on..
I held it up...
Oh My God
it was HUGE
like GRANNY huge
like big enough to hold butt cheeks huge
UGH
I looked at the tag, to check the size...
hoping there was a mistake...but I knew my "Wonderbra' knew what she was doing...
the freaking tag said 40DD
yes DD
as in DOUBLE foocking D
I went from a nice pleasant 36C to a flippin' 40 DD ???
Naturally, in typical male fashion, my husband isn't complaining...just me
I'm not fond of the new proportions...
as an athletic woman, it's a hinderance.
not to mention the neck and shoulder aches, and clothes shopping...
When 'Wonderbra' came back to check on me
I was still in denial about my measurements
she chuckled and said;
ah honey...they might not return to their regular size for a year or 2
NOOOooooooo
So, this week, I've re-pledged myself to walking
I got to get the extra 'baby fat' or as I like to call it....'the muffin top'
hopefully with that will go the extra inches around my chest.
I'm hoping so
because that's the only plan I have...
Aside from my disgruntlement with the DD
the bras fit fantastically...'Wonderbra' certainly knows her dimensions.
Even the ol' nursing bra's didn't fit this comfortable.
The rest of the night (I went out with, the girlz, after that) I kept saying
WOW...I feel good all under...
SO, I've added a 'list' on my blogsite, to motivate myself to keep walking.
Everyday I walk, I'll add the distance to my list.
I want my ol' dimensions back...
I know I'll never get my 'old boobs back'
that's impossible after childbirth..nevermind TWO births...
but a semblance of the old proportions would be WELCOME!
August 14 HERE's a big suprise..........NOT !I soo saw this coming! I remember back in July, when that israeli soldier was 'kidnapped'...
I said;
It wouldn't suprise me if they staged they whole thing as an excuse to attack!
And now?
it doesn't suprise me at all, that the usa is involved, and that it was premeditated.....
and that there's ALOT more going on in the world than we're probably ready to know about...
the world of politics is a chess game and we're just the black and white squares on the board....
here, copied from google news:
Prominent investigative journalist Seymour M. Hersh reported that Israel had previously planned to attack Lebanon prior to the Hezbollah’s kidnappings on 12 July, which is regarded as the official reason for the Lebanese war, and added that the Bush administration was “closely” interested in the war planning.
Responsible for bringing the Ebu Ghraib scandal to public attention, Hersh in his latest article for the New Yorker wrote that earlier this summer, before the Hezbollah kidnappings, several Israeli officials visited Washington separately in order to gain U.S. approval for a planned bombing operation, and to gauge how much the United States would bear.
Israel began its contacts with Vice President Dick Cheney.
Before going ahead with its planned operation, Israel wanted to be sure that it had his support and that of his office, as well as the Middle East desk of the National Security Council.
According to Hersh’s article based on retired government, military and intelligence sources, the Bush administration’s plans about Iran were effective in giving the green light to Israel’s Lebanon operation.
One of the aims of conducting bombing raids directed against civilian targets was to unite Sunni and Christian communities against Shiite Hezbollah.
U.S. government spokesmen denied Hersh’s report; meanwhile, Hersh, in an interview with CNN, said he obtained data from government officials discontent with the government’s foreign policy. August 11 Gerber, for when you "don't have a pot to pee in"..... (maybe that's just a nebraska expression)Aiden had a call for a Gerber Baby Food audition. That was last week..
This week he got a 'call back', so we returned for the second audition.
This time they auditioned the 'moms' with the babies.
The commercial is to promote their new line of toddler ready-serve dishes.
So, in this commercial, there's a frazzled mom...trying to cook some dinner
and in the background there's the toddler SMASHING away on all the pots & pans... while mom is trying to cook.
So she says the gerber entrees are the answer, especially for the times when 'she doesn't even have a pot to cook in'
corny....but cute....
and I know all moms can identify with the feeling....
When the TV 'mom' emerged..she said Aiden did awesome... he 'nailed' it
but.....
we'll see.....
we'll find out by next week if we return for the 'shoot day'..
at which time there's usually several babies they've chosen...
you never know when one will have an 'off' day....
so you never know for sure if your 'babe' has landed a commercial, until the day of filming....
O
and
While I was there with Aiden...Eryn was having a grand time at her Nana's (thanks again Mae)
live and learn
otherwise....
Been a pretty busy week again
STILL
miss my camera It took me 3 days, but I finally checked on the status of my repair (3 days of no returned phone calls)...
the camera is still in Ontario...and it's been 35+ days
less than a month to go...
until I qualify for the FREE replacement.
deeeeeep sigh
In other news,
I tried the 'Sensational Suppers' last weekend
and this week we've been eating grand!
We've had the south-african meatloaf, the maple dijon pork chops, the stuffed burgers, the rasberry chicken, and tonight is the pineapple glazed tilapia!!!!
I can't begin to describe what a relief it's been, the end of every afternoon...
when the kids are cranky, and I got to start thinking of dinner
UGH
I used to dread that..
the planning, the prep, the shopping, the chopping, the organizing, the CLEAN UP..ugh
now, it's a breeze,
each morning, while sipping my coffee, I stare into the ice box, and ponder which prepared gormet meal I'll choose for the night.
so, tonight I just cook up a side of rice to go with it, and it's done (aside from putting the entree into the oven)
I HIGHLY recommend the place.
I'll give you an example that really amde an impression on me...
The last dish I prepared, was the meatloaf...
the person before me had taken the real ground beef, instead of the vegitarian version (oops)
so there was no real ground for me to use..
instead of offering me a 'rain cheque' or asking me to substitute something else...
Dean, the owner, went to the local market to pick up some ground for me, so I could complete the dish..
mainly, he said, because he really wanted me to try the dish!
I probably would have accepted a rainceque or what not,
but he offered and apologized profusely over the minor problem
so, while I waited, I sat in one of the back/massage/spa chairs, drank more coffee, and enjoyed myself
(YEAH, they have spa chairs there too..so give yourself an extra half hour time there)
ooooo
but if you go...
(and you have to register on-line first)
pretty please, put in my email address in the referal spot..
they give you referal points, towards meals..
Dean said he'd rather pay his customers for advertising (so mainly by word of mouth) than pay for other types of advertsing.
so if you tell a friend , be sure to have them 'give' you the referal as well..
THAT, I would say was the highlight of my week,....cooking like a pro, in martha stewards kitchen (when you cook there, it's as if you're on a tv cooking show..everything is RIGHT there, and spotless...) I had soooooo much fun!
I'll definately make that a twice a month appointment.
Another weekend coming up...
supposed to be gorgeous, sunny, summertime B.C. weather
I'll be 'hitting the patio' tonight with some girlz (wave at ya'll)
at a spot that's suposed to be 'skookem' patio for sunsets , ocean views, mountain views, and drinks. Also need to do a bit of post-baby bra shopping.
I've been wearing nursing bras for the past several months, even though I'm through nursing..
keep waiting for my breasts to reduce themselves to their pre-baby proportions..
but no luck so far...
so, after months of waiting, it's time to buy some proper support and accept my new demensions....
my biking armour better still fit!!!!! grrrrr.... (O and if that was too much info for you .....you should know that by now...about my blog....it often carries tooo much information ...but it's MINE so toooo bad :P )
O
and speaking of boobies
Eryn has revealed how aware she is of...everything....
Outside, I was drawing with sidewalk chalk with the kids..mainly Eryn...
I try to get her to help me make a themed mural..
this time it was 'the sea'...
so we drew; seaweed, seahorses, dolphins, starfish..etc..
I also drew a BIG octopus...
later she went over to the octopus and was drawing on top of my drawing.....not unusual...
but when she was done, she stood up and said....
I draw boobies
what?
what is that?
I draw boobies
and sure enough
in the anotomically correct places she drew in 'boobies'
HAD to shake my head
NO idea where she got that from
I certainly don't walk around topless....
not even w/o support :P
something to write in the 'babybook' that's for sure
That's it
you're now ABREAST of all the happenings this week
HAHAHA
sorry,
couldnt help it
AND
finally
here's a photo
(thanks Adrienne) of Eryn (blue hat) playing with her lil' girlfriend Joey
August 01 poor Mel...Poor Mel Gibson...
busted !
not only busted driving drunk and speeding ,(much like our Provincial Prime Minister when on 'vacation' in Hawaii, surely all us residents remember that! All he, Gordo, our PM, got was a slap on the wrist, mind you , there were no reports of racist or slanderous remarks, toward the officers or any culture in particular...)
But poor Mel, drunk and 'under the influence'
begins to spout off about a nation and it's people, and now he's branded as 'finished' in Hollywood.
Apparently his BIG mistake was to mouth off about the 'Jews'
now, lets do a little 'mind experiment' shall we.????
lets just imagine, that instead of voicing something against the Jewish people,
the arresting officer, or what have you,
reminded poor Mel of someone German, or of German decent?
Now what if he was spouting off against them,
that the officer must be a 'foocking Kraut', and a 'god darned nazi' and doesn't he know that those 'Germans started the last 2 world wars'?
????
Would Mel be entering "Rehab" now and be making appointments with leaders of the "German community' to talk about ways to 'heal'?
Isn't the media and the public that's eating all this up, really holding a double standard, or whatever standard suits them?
That's how it's begining to look to this Kar-mama....
my heart goes out to you Mel...
We all say the wrong thing at the wrong time....at least some time
But he's a better man than that, anyone who can write, direct & star in 'Braveheart', with the passion he did (swoon, swoon) is a good man, and god forbid I should ever say the wrong thing, at the wrong time, in any kind of 'documented situation'
Wish I could give ya a hug Mel...
NO,
... really.........!!
;)
no...really!!!!!
